Secret garden - reissued

I started quilting in 2005.  I had no access to the Internet, so I borrowed books from the library to teach myself. I wanted to make a blue and white quilt for my bedroom.  Whenever I had some spare cash, I bought fat quarters in various shades of blue, and started to put simple 4 patches together.  At the same time, I found a huge amount of white damask linen at a garage sale. I combined this with the four patches which I sub-cut whichever way they fit, to create a top that I liked.  I didn't know it, but I was improvising, as I did not use a pattern and just trusted my instinct to put the top together.  I've always loved the top, but I was terrified of trying to quilt it.  And it has survived 6 house moves!   Clearly, the quilt top is dear to me.  I has a lot of history attached to it because I made it during a pretty dark time in my life.  I didn't know when to stop adding to it, and the resulting huge king size quilt top is my oldest UFO.  I paired it with a beautiful M

Postage stamp surrender

In a moment of madness, some time in 2021 or maybe earlier, I jumped onto the postage stamp quilt bandwagon, and cut what seemed to be a gazillion 1.5" scrap squares to prepare for the marathon of creating a postage stamp quilt. Of course, at the time, the reasoning was that I could make this a leader/ender project.  Now, I have an all or nothing type of personality, which meant I got stuck right in and decided that the best thing to do, and just to make it more complicated of course, was to come up with a block that used the squares a bit more creatively, get sewing, and create a queen size masterpiece.   This way I could create a block a day in no time! (I thought). I came across a tutorial for a block called 'Square Dance' and saved it on my iPad.  Unfortunately the person that created this block does not blog any more, but if you are interested, you can go to the  blog  and search for the tutorial. Turned the block into a placemat I had a small amount of black fabric w

... and a Bramble Blooms Pt 3 Update I'm calling on the Gods to thank the IT guy that I engaged to help me solve my Google and Blogspot problems.  He came to see me this morning, and it was a few dollars well spent to relieve my anxiety, and get me back into my blog.   Google help/support/community etc, including the bot - called Bard of all things, which makes me wonder if this is a nod to The Great Bard (Shakespeare) himself - couldn't resolve my issues.  Google Bard is still learning and wasn't helpful. It turns out that I had created the problem, but it took us a long time to sort it out.  Hopefully all is now resolved, as I have a lot to talk about! Adding the second border Rambling in the brambles in more ways than one Audrey's update for Bramble Blooms was to create the next border with repeat applique motifs and to add quarter-triangle style cornerstone blocks.  I read her really informative post several times, but I still managed to make a mistake - more on th
